Alhagie Abou Dandeh Njie was president of GNOC between 1989 to 2008

Former Head of the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) Alhagie Abou Dandeh Njie has died.

 

In a statement on its social media account, The GNOC stated: “It is with sadness we announce the demise of former President of Gambia National Olympic Committee Abou Dandeh Njie.

He served in the office from 1989 to 2008. A pillar in our Olympic domain passed on.

Rest in Peace”

 

In a separate obituary post, The GNOC was quoted: “This sad news is extended to the Imam Ratib of Banjul Cherno Alieu Mass Kah, Imam Basiru Drammeh of Latrikunda Mosque and all Imam’s of The Gambia and Committee of Banjul Muslim Elders and the Islamic Ummah in The Gambia and Senegal.”

 

It could be recalled the Mr Njie stepped down in 2008 and was replaced by the former president of the Gambia Draughts Association Alhagie Momodou Dibba who also passed away in 2017, a year after announcing his retirement from office.
