European giants Bayern Munich invites Gambian teenager on trial

Young Bajung Darboe in action with Bayern Munich U19s

The record German champions invited the 15-year-old Gambian to train with their U19s with a view to offering him a deal.

Darboe, currently playing for Philadelphia Union II in the MLS Next Pro (third tier), is getting some invaluable experience at an incredibly young age with the Bavaria-based outfit.

The left-winger played a youth team match for Bayern, and it now remains to be seen if the German side will offer him a contract.

Bajung Darboe, born in November 2006 in Madison, Wisconsin, to Gambian parents, joined the Philadelphia Union Academy after spending last season on Minnesota United’s U17 team in the Development Academy.

He joined Minnesota United in 2019 after spending the 2018/19 season with Chicago Fire’s academy.

He has played four matches so far this season for Philadelphia Union II who currently third on the MLS Next Pro league table with 12 points after 6 outings.
