Scorpions captain Pa Modou Jagne has penned a short-term deal to join Swiss 1. Liga classic side FC Dietikon, Gambia Sports can reveal.

The Gambia international, who became a free agent after his contract with top-tier side FC Zürich ended, joined the Swiss fourth-tier club on a deal until the end of the season.

Nda Jagne, who joined Dietikon, a club in the fifth biggest city of the canton of Zürich in mid-May, has featured twice for the club against FC Kosova Zürich and SV Höngg with both ending in defeats but clocking 90 minutes in the process.

FC Dietikon coach Daniel Tarone was happy securing the services of the 31-year-old albeit on a short term and said his club were handing the former Gambia Ports Authority, FC Wil, FC St. Gallen and FC Sion defender a chance to keep fit.

“The bearer of our hope is called Pa Modou and he played for FC Zürich until the end of the 2019/20 season. I told him he should come to us and that he can get fit again with us,” Tarone said about his new signing.

Dietikon meanwhile currently occupy the bottom position in the 14-team fourth-tier league table with 4 points after 11 matches.

Jagne, who is Tom Saintfiet’s choice for the captain’s armband, was first capped in 2008 and has featured regularly for the Scorpions over the past 13 years.
