According to Coach Saintfeit, Salford City fullback Ibou Touray has turned down the invitation to join the Scorpions on their October training camp in Portugal citing he wants to focus on his club career.

Born in Liverpool, Touray opted to play for The Gambia and made his Scorpions debut in a friendly against the Uganda Cranes back in September 2015 and went on to amass 5 caps for The Gambia including his appearances in both legs of the failed World Cup qualifiers against Angola in 2019.

Ibou, 25, started his football career as youngster in Everton’s academy and made it to the Under-21s as a before being released in 2014. On his release, he signed a contract at Chester and made 19 appearances in The National League in 2014-15.

The following season was spent at Rhyl in the Welsh Premier League, and 2016-17 saw Touray make over 40 appearances for Nantwich Town as they reached the Northern Premier League Play-Off semi-final before joining Salford City in 2017, where he plays as a left back. We wish good and hopefully he will come around again to 'rep' the Scorpion shirt again.

According to journalist Momodou Bah in Banjul former Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and Young Boys of Bern full-back Saidy Janko is included but is unsure if he has made up his mind on representing the Gambia.

He added “with Hamza Barry out after a knee injury and some midfielders struggling for minutes Saintfiet has handed young anchor Sainey Njie a debut call-up. Exciting attackers Abdoulie Sanyang and Dembo Darboe have been rewarded with a maiden invite following their eye-catching performances at club level.”
